TWI Ltd


TWI is a not-for-profit Research & Technology Organisation which is wholly owned by its members. For over fifty years TWI has performed world-class applied research, training, and dissemination activities in all aspects of materials and joining technologies. TWI employs over 600 staff at its laboratories and facilities worldwide, and provides expert support to over 700 industrial members at 3500 sites, and to many collaborative programmes.

Role in the Project

Within this project TWI will :

  • WP1 - Provide assistance on overall project management as directed by the Project Leader and Project steering team.
  • WP2 - Contribute to the specifications by consultation with TWI's membership in relevant industry sectors.
  • WP4 - Contribute to the electronic control system by the identification of suitable sensor systems and input on reliable electronic assembly design and manufacture and environmental testing.
  • WP6 - Provide thermal analysis, thermal solutions, selection of novel materials and design-for-manufacturability of the thermal management solution.
  • WP7 - TWI will provide inputs on adhesive bonding, sealing and other joining/connection technologies to ensure the lowest cost luminaire solutions, and identify any necessary coating technology for each application.
  • WP9 - A contribution will be made to the dissemination of the project as agreed with the Partners using TWI's membership, other networks, seminars and publications.
